garden waste bags

New Forest District Council’s garden waste collection service will be restarting from Monday 27 April 2020 for existing customers.

The service had been suspended from 30 March due to staff self isolating, and a need to focus staff and efforts on maintaining essential collections of black and clear sacks.

Improved staff levels, in part thanks to staff from other council services being trained to assist with collection of waste and recycling, mean that it is now feasible to operate the service once again.

A letter has been sent to all customers subscribed to the garden waste service to advise them when the service will restart and explaining how their subscription payments will be rolled forward to compensate for the missed collections.

Full details of the service are available at

Customers can check their collection day at

Collections will follow the normal scheduled pattern:

WEEK A collections 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 subscriptions from Monday 27 April for 1 week only

WEEK B collections 2020/2021 subscriptions fortnightly from Monday 4 May

WEEK A collections 2020/2021 subscriptions fortnightly from Monday 11 May

Customers are asked to only set out the number of bags paid for in their subscription.

The council does not have the capacity to collect additional or overweight sacks or side waste.

If additional waste is displayed it will not be collected.

Payments for the 2020/21 annual subscription are being rolled forward to compensate for missed collections.

The 12 month subscription will start from Monday 4 May 2020 and will end on Friday 30 April 2021.

Customers who joined the service prior to the suspension should receive a welcome letter and garden waste sack.

Customers who have not received theirs by 8 May should call customer services on 023 8028 5391.

Customers for 2019/20 who didn’t get chance to renew before the service was suspended can call customer services on 023 8028 5391 to renew their subscription.

Unfortunately, the Council cannot currently accept new customer subscriptions, while they prioritise restarting the service for existing customers but updates on when new customers can join the scheme will be added to
