New Forest District Council has published a revised Statement of Community Involvement setting out how residents can have their voices heard on district-wide planning strategy as well as on planning applications that may affect them.
The council is the planning authority for the areas of the district outside the National Park boundary. The public is invited to comment on the document before it is considered for adoption by the council in early 2015
The Statement of Community Involvement details how the council will consult with local people on both the preparation of local plans and planning guidance. It also describes how residents can find out about, comment on or object to planning applications that may affect them.
Councillor Paul Vickers, New Forest District Council’s portfolio holder for planning and transportation, said: “It is vital that we involve residents in the process of developing our planning policy to ensure that it reflects their views. This is an important opportunity for people to have their say on how we do that and I would encourage them to do so.”
The document can be viewed online at newforest.gov.uk/haveyoursay from Friday 21 November 2014 to Friday 9 January 2015. It is also available to view at the council’s Appletree Court offices in Lyndhurst (during normal office hours).
All comments should be sent to the Policy and Plans Team, New Forest District Council, Appletree Court, Beaulieu Road, Lyndhurst, SO43 7PA or e-mailed to firstname.lastname@example.org, to be received no later than Friday 9 January 2015 (please include your full name and address and give details of which parts of the document your comments relate to).
